Foi hoje divulgado o Calendário de Actividades da FCT para 2006:
Bolsas de mestrado e doutoramento
1 a 31 de Março
As bolsas a conceder no âmbito deste concurso deverão iniciar-se em Janeiro de 2007, podendo em casos verdadeiramente excepcionais ter início ainda durante 2006, mas nunca antes de 1 de Outubro.
Neste concurso será feita também a avaliação das Bolsas de pós-doutoramento
As candidaturas a estas bolsas que sejam lacradas até 28 de Fevereiro e venham a ser aprovadas poderão ter início a partir de Setembro de 2006. As que venham a ser lacradas até 31 de Março e venham a ser aprovadas não poderão ter início antes de 2007.
Concurso de projectos de I&D em todos os domínios científicos
15 de Junho a 31 de Julho
Os projectos que venham a ser aprovados, após avaliação por painéis internacionais, deverão iniciar-se no decurso do ano de 2007.
Avaliação das Unidades de I&D
O processo terá início no dia 15 de Setembro para todas as unidades de I&D cujo último exercício de avaliação decorreu entre Junho de 2002 e Janeiro de 2004. Nos Laboratórios Associados as acções de acompanhamento e avaliação decorrerão de acordo com o previsto nos respectivos contratos.
Entre 1 de Novembro de 2006 e 31 de Janeiro de 2007 estará aberto o processo de pré-candidaturas à constituição de novas unidades.

The venue for the 4th Convention of European Higher Education Institutions was agreed upon at the EUA Council meeting last month, and EUA is pleased to announce that the universities in Portugal will be hosting the event in Lisbon from 29-31 March 2007. Given that on the European political agenda more importance than ever before is being attached to universities, the Convention will be the forum to present the sector’s views on latest developments and its priorities for the future.

The 2006 'Going for Growth' report of the OECD indicates that EU countries need to do more to increase the number of people in the workforce. Government actions in that area, however, are being contested in the streets in France and Germany.

Appeal against budget cuts on research and innovation
A European petition for research and innovation was handed over to the Austrian Chancellor Wolfgang Schüssel on 31 January 2006. The signatories are urging the Austrian Presidency and the member states to review the December 2005 agreement on the financial perspective 2007-2013 and to accept the Commission's initial proposal for FP7 and CIP without budget cuts.
